Devlin,
Thank you for contacting me. I am concerned when I get messages from students asking for things that have been explained in the syllabus and in online and in-class instructions. First, you are aware that there is no late work, so computer problems that date back to the first weeks of the term (this is week 6), can no longer be "fixed". This also goes for the Chapter 14 quiz.

Currently, your class attendance is very poor. This is certainly something that can and should be fixed in the last 5 weeks of class.

As for your forum posts, it does not seem to me as if you've read the How Forums are Graded instructions. In Forum 1 you made only a single post. There is no mathematical way you could earn more than an F for that poor level of participation throughout the week. Below are your posts, followed by my comments.

HST 202 W16 (Escobar Meta 31004 31003) -> Forum 2 -> Hollywood History & Mythology -> Hollywood history

honestly personally when i hear about the exxagerations and misinformation that are given in this movie it makes me feel bad. i mean here we are sugarcoating what actually happened historically and how we acted towards african americans really during all this and focusing also mainly not on the slaves but on the moral growth of the white charecters. this relates to the folklore of the underground railroad which i can't believe how loose that story has become in classrooms . this relates because us as a soceity like to have this silver lining in where we make our culture not feel so terrible by saying oh well a lot of whites came out to help the slaves and were great people. sugarcoating and exagerating stories like this academically really leaves the stories to be further manipulated into who knows what later down the line

Are you texting your posts? No capitals and periods. Spelling mistakes throughout. More importantly, there is no mention of anything from the article or video that proves that you have read or watched the material, let alone analyzed it.

HST 202 W16 (Escobar Meta 31004 31003) -> Forum 2 -> Editorial Cartoons -> the scale
by Devlin Wynn - Friday, 22 January 2016, 11:26 PM

the editorial cartoon that stuck out the most to me definitely was the scale cartoon. The idea or opinion that is being made here by the artist of this piece is that immigrants in the north were treated as blacks were within the south. the reason i believe this is the statement is because of the white man sitting on the north side of the scale is portrayed as almost inhuman and kind of monstrous. during these times immigrants mainly the irish were portrayed in cartoons as looking like this. the scale is equal with the southern african american meaning there the same in there respective communities.

Neither of your two forum 2 posts came before the initial post deadline, so penalty for lateness. You posted only on Friday and NOT throughout the week, as the instructions state.

HST 202 W16 (Escobar Meta 31004 31003) -> Forum 1 -> A Democratic Revolt? -> The Spoils System
by Devlin Wynn - Monday, 18 January 2016, 11:47 PM

Do you believe that the “Spoils System” was a fair system like Martin Van Buren believed giving sometimes the advantage to one group and than giving the advantages over to the other group at times. Was this a fair system or would this lead to one group or party consistently coming out ahead?

Although this forum 1 post came before the deadline, it does not answer any of the questions I asked students to discuss on the Forum 1 materials page. Instead, you are asking a question of your group members and not dealing with the two articles that all students were asked to read.
